Summer Fun 2007

Splash Pads

Splash Pads and Splash Parks are popping up all over Bryan/College Station. With 5 months of summer, it’s no wonder that splash playgrounds are one of the most requested amenities of the
various Parks and Recreation Departments around the Brazos Valley.

What is a splash pad or splash park? A splash park is a public area where spraying or shooting water is provided. This makes it a great place to take kids that don’t yet know how to swim. As an added benefit, most of them are in public parks, so they are free!

Here are some splash parks around town. Why not visit them all for variety?
• Tanglewood Park
• Tiffany Park
• Henderson Harbor (offers water slides)
• Aquatic Center (offers water slides)

Remember, even though there's no deep water at these splash playgrounds, you still need to watch your children at all times and follow the park rules.

Based on the popularity splash pads in Bryan/College Station, city officials are considering including more of these features in future projects, so be sure to keep the look out for new splash pads this Summer.

If you would like to take a traditional swim instead of visiting a splash pad, there are many city pools in the area, and all are kid friendly.

• Southwood Pool – College Station
• Thomas Pool – College Station
• Adamson Pool – College Station
• Bryan Aquatic Center - Bryan
• Haswell Pool - Bryan
• Henderson Harbor Pool - Bryan
• Sadie Thomas Pool - Bryan
• Texas A&M University Rec Center – College Station

Sweltering temperatures provide the perfect excuse to enjoy fun in the water, whether you take advantage of Bryan/College Station’s new splash pads or the various city pools found around Bryan and College Station.
